Ms Liisa-Ly Pakosta is the Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Estonia. Prior to becoming the Minister on 23 July 2024, Ms. Pakosta was the Chairwoman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the National Parliament of Estonia (Riigikogu). She is a member of the political party Estonia 200 and was a member of the XI Riigikogu and the XII Riigikogu (up to 2015). Ms Pakosta has served as the head of Tallinn Heritage Board, State Heritage Board and Deputy Mayor of Tallinn. She has also acted as the Editor-in-Chief of AS Ühinenud Ajakirjad (magazine publisher) from 2004 to 2008. In 2015, Ms Pakosta became the Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner, holding the position for seven years. Liisa-Ly Pakosta has received a Master’s degree in law and previously a Master’s degree in history, and is pursuing a PhD in law at the University of Tartu.
