How Danish eGovernment has supported resilience towards common challenges throughout the COVID-19 crisis

The state of Danish eGovernment has shown its worth during the COVID-19-pandemic. Denmark has solved many of the challenges through digital solutions, including digital booking of tests and vaccinations, payment of benefits, and more. The high degree of eGovernment in the Danish public sector contributes to the overall picture by delivering on central enablers such as digital infrastructure, political collaboration and a good environment. The case is relevant in connection with the discussion of the international experiences from the handling of COVID-19. We would like to present the main conclusion from our study of how the degree of public digitization and economic resilience has affected Denmark’s covid-19 handling, including a recommendation for why digital-ready legislation can be used as a operationalizable and concrete initiative that can support eGovernment.
