Jesse Robbins is Founder and CEO of Orion Labs, the voice-first communication, context, and automation platform for mobile and deskless teams of all sizes.

Robbins is also a venture partner at Heavybit, the program that helps developer and infrastructure tools startups succeed.

Prior to Orion, Robbins was founder & CEO of Chef, the leader in cloud automation, used by thousands of companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. He also founded the Velocity Web Performance & Operations Conference and edited the Web Operations book. He is credited as a creator of the DevOps movement.

Prior to founding Chef, Robbins served as Amazon’s “Master of Disaster” where he was responsible for Website Availability for every property bearing the Amazon brand. His most notable accomplishments at Amazon was the creation of the Game Day and Incident Management programs, which was adapted his fire service experience.

Robbins is a volunteer Firefighter/EMT and Emergency Manager and led a task force deployed in Operation Hurricane Katrina. His experiences in the fire service profoundly influence his efforts in technology, and he strives to distill his knowledge from these two worlds and apply it in service of both.
