Jesse Coleman (he/him)

Manager, Transportation Data & Analytics, City of Toronto

Jesse Coleman is the Manager of Transportation Data & Analytics in the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division. As part of this role he manages a data science team (The Big Data Innovation Team) and oversees the City’s transportation data collection and management program. Jesse has led the creation of a modern data science team within government from the ground up to be able to conduct practical analyses of transportation data sets that measure the impact and benefits of the City’s policies and projects. The team partners actively with Universities, researchers and the Toronto tech community to drive its innovation agenda. The Big Data Innovation Team hosted a Code for Canada fellowship team in 2018 to prototype a new internal platform for managing data transportation data and have been working with Code for Canada since the conclusion of the fellowship to launch the new platform to all staff.

Prior to joining the City in August 2015, Jesse worked for 10 years in the private sector as a Transportation Planning consultant where he was involved with a number of long-term transportation planning studies around Canada. Jesse is a Professional Engineer and earned a Masters of Applied Science in Transportation Engineering from the University of Toronto.
