Jeremy Boy (he/him)

Jeremy is the Lead Data Scientist for the United Nations Development Programme Accelerator Lab Network. He is a graphic designer/ multimedia artist by training, with a PhD in information and communication sciences. After working on data visualization literacy, and citizens’ online engagement with open and public data, he has spent the last five years working with new sources of big data to inform human rights, humanitarian, and now development experts on issues of migration, integration, and xenophobia in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. He is keen on the technical aspects of understanding situations and events through data, but is also concerned with the threats data, algorithms, and more generally digitization can pose to human rights, good governance, and sovereignty. Jeremy is still driven by his artistic background, and was the General Chair for the IEEE VIS Arts Programs in 2017 and 2018.
