The Digital Social Contract: Toward a new digital rights agenda to counteract Silicon Valley

The consumer internet presents a paradox: We love our experiences of the major platforms, but silently, we are economically exploited by them every day as we use them more and more. In this keynote, former Facebook executive and Obama White House economic advisor Dipayan Ghosh will lay out how the business model of big tech works today, why it is systematically harmful to democratic interests, and what we will need to do in the way forward to rebalance the distribution of economic power from corporate to consumer.
