Gosia Loj (she/her)

Head of International Strategy and Global Governance & DN Lead, United Kingdom Government

Head of G7 Presidency, Digital and Tech and Multilateral Engagements at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), UK Government. Previously, Head of International Strategy and Global Governance at DCMS as well as Senior Responsible Owner for the EdTech Hub at the Department for International Development (DFID).
Prior to joining the UK Civil Service, Gosia worked for 7 years in the UN system and other international organisations, including on security issues at NATO, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and in trade/agricultural market access both in the European Commission and in the World Trade Organisation. She also served as an advisor to the Director General of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (the Secretariat to the UN Conventions on Cluster Munitions and Anti-Personnel Mine Ban).

Her transition to the digital and tech policy space started by joining a start-up in green tech as a CEO/co-founder which is still one of her greatest passions and interests and as the AI Global Governance Lead at a London-based a think/do tank that served as the Secretariat to the UK All-party Parliamentary Group on AI and Blockchain.

Gosia teaches AI global governance as a visiting expert at Hull International Business School and UC Berkley HAAS, and is an author and moderator of the AI global governance course at the UN Institute for Research and Training (UNITAR).

She holds a BSC (Hons) in Politics with Economics, University of Bath, UK; MSc in International Development (specialising in Economic Development in Latin America), University of Amsterdam, Netherlands; and an Executive Diploma in Innovation and Tech, MIT, US.

Gosia started my career in Latin America, working first in a micro-finance NGO in Argentina and then in financial due diligence and mergers and acquisitions at PwC in Chile.

She speaks fluent Polish, English and Spanish and has a working level of French and Portuguese.
