Markku Heimbürger (he/him)

Chief Funding Advisor, Business Finland

Markku is a Chief Funding Advisor for Business Finland, with 13 years of experience in public funding for applied research and development projects, innovation ecosystem orchestration projects, and demand-driven innovative public procurement projects. Previously, he worked for over 10 years as a researcher at Aalto University and the Helsinki University of Technology, with research projects focusing on innovation and inter-organizational collaboration. He also served as the Programme Manager of the Smart Procurement Program at Tekes (currently Business Finland) from 2015 to 2017.

With a forward-thinking mindset, Markku is passionate about the power of innovation and working on cutting-edge R&D projects. He believes that by aligning innovative efforts with real-world needs through innovative public procurement, it is possible to catalyze breakthrough innovations.
