Building cyber resilience: Challenges and opportunities facing Canada's digital transformation

Every day, institutions in Canada fall victim to cyber attacks. For many of those institutions, recovering from data breaches is a difficult and costly path. For example, it took over six months for the Toronto Public Library to recover from its 2023 ransomware attack, and the recovery costs were estimated at nearly $1 million. The City of Hamilton was also hit by a ransomware attack in February 2024, and was forced to delay crucial services and payments while recovering.

In this panel, four of Canada's Emerging Leaders in Cybersecurity discuss current challenges and opportunities facing Canada's unique government and business ecosystems. The panelists will draw on their backgrounds in data protection, cyber security, risk management, and incident response while discussing the following questions:
- What are some of the biggest cybersecurity challenges facing Canadian organizations right now?
- How can organizations assess and mitigate their cyber risks?
- What directions might we see cybersecurity go in the next year?
